Dr. H. G. Doctor is a Founder President of Hernia Society of India which is a National section of Asia Pacific Hernia Society.
He has helped to establish the ETHICON INSTITUTE OF SURGICAL EDUCATION (IISE) for training of Surgeons in Minimal Access Surgery, Crafts Workshops and Microvascular Surgery.
Since 1993, he has taken keen interest in hand-on training of surgeons in Minimal Access Surgery and has been instrumental in training of more than 1300 surgeons in Laparoscopic Surgery.
He has been associated with the research and development of sutures and needles at ETHICON, India for the past 30 years and has done monumental work in imparting technical knowledge and information on wound healing and sutures to the surgical fraternity of our country and has made commendable contribution to the medical science.
Dr. Doctor has held top positions in various leading medical organizations, including the prestigious post of President of the Association of Surgeons of India, President of the Indian Section of the International College of Surgeons, Founder Chairman of the Indian Chapter of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Founder Honorary Treasurer of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (IAGES).
